The Wall Street Journal’s Joseph B. White has reported (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203278404574415053448975972.html) that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is planning a summit to consider driving while texting as a serious threat to safety. A lot interest groups concerned are trying to do something to make driving while texting illegal. Already 18 states and the District of Columbia have passed anti-texting laws.
Even though it might be illegal enforcement is the real challenge. Making it illegal to drink and drive hasn’t stopped people from doing it. Parents who are concerned about themselves or their teens who drive and have a cell phone can now disable their phones from texting while the vehicle is moving. New software from WebSafety has proven successful in protecting us from our temptation to text while driving. Check it out at http://www.mywebsafety.com/Site/default.asp?PIN=62233&SN=MarkWarner&IVID=0 it is great stuff!
Whether illegal or not I plan on protecting myself and my teenagers without having to drive with them where ever they go. It will give me great peace of mind.
